The British Library

A group of watercolours in the British Library painted during the Pacific Ocean voyage of HM Bark Endeavour has long been attributed to the 'Artist of the Chief Mourner', sometimes identified as Joseph Banks. This article identifies the true artist as an indigenous Polynesian, Tupaia.

City of Ryde

Aboriginal people lived for thousands of years in what we call the City of Ryde. When the first Europeans settled at Sydney Cove in 1788 the traditional owners of this area were the Wallumedegal.
