The inaugural AJC Randwick meeting - a report
The Australian Jockey Club's inagural Randwick meeting in May 1860 was viewed with great interest by the Sydney media. Bell's life in Sydney and sporting reviewer (Australia's first sporting newspaper) carried a detailed account of the three day meeting in the June 2 issue. Bell's life declared that the meeting 'fell but little short of the sanguine expectations we had entertained' and that all events 'passed off without a hitch'.
