Field of Flowers: tributes from the Martin Place siege
Soon after the tragedy that has come to be known as the Martin Place siege, the first bouquet of flowers was placed in the vicinity of the Lindt Café.
Over the following days tens of thousands of people blanketed Martin Place with flowers, messages and other items in an outpouring of empathy and connection.
A year on, the Field of Flowers exhibition features a rich assortment of the tributes that were left at the makeshift memorial – evidence of a community united in mourning but determined on a positive future.
