Open at Macquarie’s entry for 11 June 1824, describing his last illness. He died three weeks later without making any further entries. He writes:
‘Between 2 and 3,OClock this morning I awoke very ill, with a severe Headache, Pains in my Bowels, and a difficulty of making Urine. — I sent immediately for Dr. Andrews, who was with me by 4,O’Clock. He ordered Fomentation immediately and some Diurectine Medicines which relieved me very much — but continued ill all Day in Bed.’
