Plan and elevation of the Governor’s stable and offices at Sydney, New South Wales, 1820

This grand, castellated stable in the Gothic style was commissioned by Macquarie and designed by Greenway to harmonise with a proposed new government house that was never built. Begun in 1817, the stable was condemned by Macquarie's critics as a costly, self-indulgent folly. It is now the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music.
