Waterloo Warehouse
Daniel Cooper was transported for theft in 1815, and a year later opened a store in George Street. In 1821 Cooper became a partner in the firm of Hutchinson, Terry & Co., also known as the Waterloo Co. Four years later, Cooper and Solomon Levey became sole owners of the business, which entered the field of banking in 1822 and began issuing its own notes. The company operated from purpose-built premises opposite the George Street Markets.
