Antill served in India with the 73rd Regiment and was severely wounded at the siege of Seringapatam. He accompanied Macquarie to Sydney, where he was appointed the governor’s aide-de-camp. In 1811 he was promoted to major of brigade. Following Macquarie’s departure, he retired to his estate at Picton.
