This view of Sydney Harbour from Kurraba Point, Neutral Bay depicts the beginnings of high-rise development in the suburb in the early 20th century. Development of Neutral Bay and Kurraba Point started in the 1850s and 1860s. The commencement of a regular ferry service in the 1870s and tram services along Military Road from the 1880s led to a gradual increase in the number of residences in this area. By the early 1940s the elite suburb featuring attractive homes for the affluent was starting to give way to residential flat buildings and subdivisions.
