Auntie Mame

By Rennie Ellis

Makeup at the Minerva (Theatre) was under the direction of Dorothy Dunckley, whose flat in Macleay Street was only a few yards to the theatre. Dot was a great one for giving parties and after-the-show get togethers at her first floor apartment were theatrical events in themselves. The Auntie Mame of the Cross … still lives in the same four rooms and, even in her old age, retains all the warmth and effervescence that made her so popular with the theatre crowd.
