Lucky envelopes

By Rennie Ellis

By day this area is essentially a shopping centre. Everything you need to sustain a community is there from laundromats and supermarkets to banks, butchers, boutiques, bookshops and barbers. Greengrocer's barrows do a roaring trade from the roadside. ‘Try your luck, try your luck, try your luck’, intones an old bloke flogging lucky envelopes; a lot of people do.
