Performance house

Cabaret performances, films and plays were held on a regular basis at Yellow House. Film-maker George Miller showed his first film Violence in the cinema there. Other well-known names associated with the Yellow House included painters Tim Lewis, George Gittoes and Bruce Goold (now one of designers for Mambo clothing), and film-makers Peter Weir and Jim Sharman.

Installation artwork

By Alby Falzon

"You'd wake up in the morning and find a room had been transformed overnight. Martin (Sharp) and people would keep working through the night. So the whole house was an installation artwork. And, uh, it was installed but it became a performance space - so inside the installation, performances took place. So it was a multimedia art form."
