“Apart from drawing
the cover for the first FJP comic, Unk White was responsible for the first
adventure strip ‘Blue Hardy and the Diamond Eyed Pygmies’ which had also
appeared briefly in Pix Magazine. The
story was set in the outback and covered the attempts of Blue, his girlfriend
Kit, and their black tracker Jacky to locate the famous Pettigrew Lost Gold
Reef.
This was obviously inspired by the stories of the Lasseter Reef and the unsuccessful expedition of 1930. … While it was obvious that White did not take the same care with his comic work as he did with his newspaper and magazine work the skill of this talented artist was still evident”
