True to its name, this bar is very narrow, but spreads up to a mid-level room, where live gigs are played, and an upper level open-air lounge.

In 1891 a man was sentenced to 14 days hard labour for stealing a bottle of gin from a Newtown bar. A waitress, suspicious that the man had left the bar abruptly, discovered him hiding in an outhouse with the offending bottle.

A popular cocktail here is the South Side, invented during Prohibition in Chicago in the 1920s. It is made of gin, mint and lemon.
