Virtual Tour of the Mitchell

Take a virtual walk around the Mitchell Library any time of the day or night.

Take a peek into some of the Mitchell’s special rooms. Stop in the vestibule, look at the impressive marble mosaic reproduction of the Tasman Map of 1644. The original is held in the Library.

Visit the Shakespeare Room, with its richly embellished Tudor motifs by woodcarver Charles Sherline, and plaster ceiling modelled on Cardinal Wolsey's closet at Hampton Court Palace.

The grand Reading Room, with clocks at both ends and the 12 metre high walls, houses just a small part of the book collection bequeathed by David Scott Mitchell.
