The Local History Collection at Hornsby Shire Library provides information about the whole of Hornsby Shire from Epping to Wisemans Ferry, from Dural to Brooklyn. This includes material on the history of the Shire’s community, geography, and natural environment.

There is an online Street and Place Name Database which provides clients with the origins of street and place names within Hornsby Shire. The Huguenots were French Protestants persecuted by the Catholic Kings of France from around 1520 until the French Revolution of 1789.

Many hundreds of thousands of Huguenots fled from France to countries such as the British isles, Netherlands,South Africa and America. Most fled to England in the 1680s and 90s. An estimated 300,000 Australians today are of Huguenot descent.
