EBSCO Databases: trial of access from home for State Library clients

Remote access to EBSCO Publishing databases, under the license guidelines, is permitted to authorized users (eg. NSW residents registered as a State Library client) of subscribing organizations accessing for personal research. Remote access by authorized users from their place of employment for research done to benefit their employer, or to assist this institution in saving the cost of an institutional subscription to the database or any of its contents, is prohibited.

The commercial resale of articles or copyrighted content found in EBSCO Publishing databases is also not authorized.

The following selection of databases is available for access from home for residents of New South Wales.

To participate you must be a New South Wales resident and must also be registered as a State Library client. If you are not a registered client of the Library, you can apply online. You will need to allow up to 10 days to receive your Reader's Card before you can use these databases from home.

Select the log in button for one of the databases to begin searching. You will be asked to enter your Reader's card number and password and to read and agree to the conditions of access.

Note: The database Business Source Complete is not available for use from outside the Library.

MasterFILE Premier

MasterFILE Premier contains full text periodicals covering general reference, business, health, education, general science, multicultural issues, etc. It also contains full text for reference books, biographies, primary source documents, and an Image Collection of photos, maps & flags.

Academic Search Complete

Academic Search Complete is a scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 6,100 full-text periodicals, including more than 5,100 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 10,100 journals and a total of more than 10,600 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc.

LGBT Life with Full Text

LGBT Life with Full Text contains LGBT journals, magazines and regional newspapers, monographs/books including classics in Lesbian Studies and Gay Science, such as The Ethics of Sexual Orientation Research, Handbook of Research with Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Populations, Queer Theory & Social Change, etc.

The database also includes indexing and abstract coverage as well as a specialized LGBT Thesaurus.

The Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre contains Australia/New Zealand magazines, newspapers and newswires, reference books, biographies, photographs, maps and flags.

Titles include: Architecture Australia, Australian Geographic, Australian Women's Weekly, Inside Rugby, The Australian (National), The Daily Telegraph (Sydney), The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney), The Sydney Morning Herald (Sydney), Encyclopedia of Australia, History of Australia, etc.

Science Reference Center contains full text of science encyclopedias, reference books, journals, magazines, biographies, scientific images and videos.

Topics covered include: biology, chemistry, earth & space science, environmental science, health & medicine, history of science, life science, physics, science & society, science as inquiry, scientists, technology and wildlife.

Literary Reference Center

Literary Reference Center contains full text for plot summaries, synopses and work review, articles/essays of literary criticism, author biographies, literary journals, book reviews, classic and contemporary poems, classic and contemporary short stories, author interviews, classic texts, etc. It also includes Merriam Webster's Encyclopedia of Literature, Continuum Encyclopedia of American Literature, Continuum Encyclopedia of British Literature, Continuum Encyclopedia of Children's Literature, The New Princeton Encyclopedia of Poetry and Poetics, Beacham's Research Guide to Biography and Criticism, The Oxford Illustrated History of English Literature, The Literary Encyclopedia, The Columbia Companion to the 20th Century American Short Story, MagillOnLiterature Plus, etc.
