Access to databases from home

The following selection of databases is available for access from home for residents of New South Wales.

To participate you must be a New South Wales resident and must also be registered as a State Library client. If you are not a registered client of the Library, you can apply online. You will need to allow up to 10 days to receive your Reader's Card before you can use these databases from home.

Select the log in button for one of the databases to begin searching. You will be asked to enter your Reader's card number and password and to read and agree to the conditions of access.

17th-18th century Burney Collection Newspapers

The 17th-18th Century Burney Collection Newspapers collections contains one million newspaper pages with titles from London, British Isles, and colonies. Included in the collection are newspapers, newsbooks, Acts of Parliament, addresses, broadsides, pamphlets and proclamations.

19th Century British Library Newspapers

The 19th Century British Library Newspapers collection contains 48 newspapers (two million newspaper pages) selected by the British Library from national and regional newspapers, as well as those from both established country or university towns, the Midlands region, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

Provides access to the Australian Literary Database which covers Australian creative writing and Australian writers. Subjects covered by the database include books, poems, short stories, articles and reviews and can be searched by author title, genre or award. The database contains records from 1880s to the current day, with comprehensive coverage from 1988.

The Columbia Granger's World of Poetry contains 250,000 poems in full text and 450,000 citations, numbers that will continually expand with each update.
