ABI/Inform

This American online database indexes more than a thousand international journals which focus on business and management. Subjects covered include accounting, marketing, human resources, finance and taxation. Over 70% of the articles indexed are available in full text, text and graphics or page images. Hypertext links at the end of citations allow further searching under related subject headings as well as publisher information. A backfile is available for a number of articles published before 1985.

A national vacancy database containing jobs listed with the Job Network Service, some national newspapers, the Commonwealth Public Service gazette, jobs lodged directly by employers, and jobs from the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association. Business Who's Who of Australia

This online database provides information on Australian public and private companies including company activities, contact details, company directors, branches, subsidiaries, company websites, tradenames and agencies. The company information is fully searchable which allows you to locate information such as companies within specific industries, companies by region or see who sits on which boards.

Business entry point

The Business entry point (BEP) is an initiative of the Australian Federal Government. The site provides information on running a business, the ability to register with the Australian Taxation Office and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission as well as access to detailed information related to specific business topics.

Current value of old money

A pathfinder site for historical values of money such as 17th century prices, 18th century currencies and exchange rates, CPI since 1750, and what things cost in the 1940s.

Delisted

This site is useful for people wanting to find out what has happened to companies that are no longer listed on the ASX, and especially shareholders in failed companies who need to establish if they can claim a capital loss against their income tax.

Doing business

Very useful information about doing business in different countries published by the World Bank. Select information by country or topic Explore Economies section provides a snapshot of each country's aggregate ranking on the ease of doing business and on each of the ten topics that comprise the overall ranking. Data is also provided for each country for all the 10 topics covered in the database.

EconLit

EconLit, the American Economic Association’s database, is a leading source of references to economic literature dating back to 1969. There are over 825,000 records on EconLit covering accounting, econometrics, economic forecasting, labour economics, monetary theory, urban economics and many other branches of economic research. European business directory

This site provides a searchable product and company name database of 500 000 European suppliers.

Expanding exports helpdesk

A resource provided by the European Commission to facilitate access for developing countries to markets within the European Union. Includes information relevant to Australia. Provides regulations, tariffs, customs documents and trade statistics. Can be searched by country of origin and by product codes. Trade statistics (2000 to date) provide volume and Euro value of exports and imports between a non-EU country (e.g. Australia) and either the entire EU or particular countries within the EU.

FXHistory: historical currency exchange rates

This site allows you to obtain the historical exchange rate for any currency pair, select the language, the range of dates and the currencies for which you would like to obtain exchange rates.

Factiva

Factiva is a full-text news and financial information database of publications from Australian and international sources in 22 languages from 118 countries including newspapers, magazines, company and industry reports, newswires, pictures, and websites. How much is that?

Allows comparisons of value including prices, purchasing power, earnings, GDP, interest rates, exchange rates and other economic variables between the past and today. Calculators convert past values into current values and vice versa.

Ideas

A bibliographic database on Economics. There are over 325,000 items (such as working papers, articles and software components) on the database, and over 225,000 can be downloaded in fulltext.
