Agriculture and Biological Sciences

AGRIS is an international information system to bring together world literature dealing with all aspects of agricultural sciences and technology. AGRIS is a cooperative system in which participating countries input references to the literature produced within their boundaries and, in return, draw on the information provided by the other participants. To date, 240 national, international and intergovernmental centres participate.

Agricola contains bibliographic records from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Library. This database contains more than 4.1 million citations from journal articles, book chapters, monographs, theses, patents, software, audiovisual materials, and technical reports related to agriculture.

Agricola encompasses all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines, including animal and veterinary sciences, entomology, plant sciences, forestry, aquaculture and fisheries, farming and farming systems, agricultural economics, extension and education, food and human nutrition, agricultural engineering and technology and earth and environmental sciences.

Subjects covered by this database include aeronautics, artificial intelligence, chemistry, civil engineering, engineering and biomedical materials, food and food industry, geology, marine technology, optical and neural computing, waste management and other industrial and mechanical arts. Sources include trade and industrial publications, journals issued by professional and technical societies, directories, and conference proceedings.

Indexing begins in 1983, abstracting begins in 1993, full text coverage begins in 1997.

ABARE is an independent research agency which provides economic forecasts on Australian rural and resource industries. Subjects covered include commodity forecasts, services and infrastructure in the rural sector and risk management in farm businesses.
