Baradine tree

In 1876, Baradine, north-west NSW, was home to this sacred carved tree of the Gamilaroi.

In 1918, NSW Forestry Commission rangers cut it down on advice from the district forester who claimed the landowner 'attaches no value to the tree'.

92 years later, on 16 April 2010, the Baradine tree came home.
